Portable Appliance Testing Training

What Appliances need to be PAT tested?
The general rule of thumb is appliances that are hand held and/or portable also appliances with multiple users e.g. fax machines, extension leads and water boiler in canteen fall into this category. A competent person identifying the hazards and evaluating the risks makes the decision. 


One day training course. 

ETS can tailor courses to meet your company’s specific requirements. Each participant will be presented with a certificate on completion of the course. A comprehensive manual accompanies the program and a copy will be made available to each participant.
 
This is a professional course and provides all the expertise to comply with current regulations and standards. 

Course Contents:
 
Module A: Legal Background.                                                                 
Module B: Construction and classification of electrical equipment.                                      
Module C: Inspection and testing procedures. Test instrument characteristics and require tests.                                                                                                                           
Module D: Frequency of maintenance and records. Tables and charts including guidelines on test result limits.  
                                               

Management of Health & Safety at Work Section of the 2005 Act.
  • 2007 General Application Regulations Part 3 Electricity.
  • Construction of electrical equipment and related risks associated with their use.
  • Relevant standard classification awarded for the different types.
  • The purpose of ‘user’ checks and the requirements for periodic inspections.
  • Different types of test instruments and their characteristics and requested tests on a selection of electrical equipment.
  • Functional operation of the Information Technology equipment.
  • Determining a suitable frequency of periodic maintenance checks.
  • Determining the class of appliance and test group under which it should be tested.
  • Understanding the need for record keeping and labelling requirements.
  • Awareness of the different forms of records for periodic maintenance.
