Professional Commercial & Industrial Independent Electrical Surveying

The Health & Safety Welfare at Work Act 2005 places a legal responsibility on the employer to provide:

1. A safe place of work.
2. Safe plant and equipment.
3. Adequate maintenance of equipment.

The 2007 General Application Regulations outline nine major topics, one being electricity; and list obligations of the employer, including:
  • Provision of effective means in relation to every electrical circuit to prevent danger arising from leakage current to earth.
  • A test of an existing installation shall be made in an approved manner by a competent person and details of tests recorded.
  • All electrical equipment and electrical installations should at all times be constructed, installed, maintained, protected and used so as to prevent danger.

Apart from it being a statutory regulation it is also common sense to maintain all electrical equipment in a safe manner. Therefore, periodic inspection and testing is an essential part of safe procedures.

What can ETS do for you?

  • Subject the installation to a thorough inspection and test, incorporating all distribution boards, lighting, socket and fixed points to ensure compliance with ETCI rules.
  • Verify all relevant earthing and bonding conductors.
  • Compile a comprehensive report detailing all faults and remedial actions necessary.
  • Provide accurate test record sheets of requisite tests.
  • It’s also prudent to subject all portable appliances to a test for compliance with Health and Safety Regs.
